It seems like Apple may have finally taken a chill pill and relaxed about providing competitive Apps in iTunes.
Spotify is an iPhone App that provides services similar to iTunes. Apple denied the App a few months ago because it “provided similar functionality and was unnecessary”. They have also denied Google Voice and other applications for this reason. It was questioned whether or not this was legal, because they were eliminating competition and, in my opinion, pulling a Microsoft-like monopoly.
Now the question is will they be reconsidering other apps they have denied for this reason such as Google Voice? I suppose we’ll have to wait and find out.
